Academy & team membership
To participate in AFBJJ and AFBJJ affiliated championships, each Team (academy) must obtain an AFBJJ Team (academy) membership. The Team (academy) membership allows the team's athletes to compete in over 40 AFBJJ National events and participate in the NRS (National Ranking System). Each registered team will receive an official AFBJJ Registered Team (academy) certificate each year with membership renewal.
To register your team, complete the following steps:
Note: the person registering their Team (academy) must be an Individual member of the AFBJJ. They will also automatically become the team manager.
Step 1:
Log in to AFBJJ Smoothcomp membership platform or create a free account if you don’t already have one.
Step 2: Go to the ‘Membership’ drop down menu and select ‘Academies’ then ‘Register your academy’.
Step 3: Continue with the Academy Membership option and accept the information provided.
Step 4: Click on the search bar to check that your academy hasn’t already been registered.
Step 5:
Click ‘Register new’ from the search bar and follow the prompts.
Step 6:
The form below must be signed by a registered team manager. Any false information will result in an AFBJJ membership ban.

Head coach registration
Team (academy) head coaches must maintain an athlete (individual) membership to be able to maintain a register team (academy) membership and sign on behalf of that team's (academy) athletes.
For Team (academy) head coaches there is a mandatory black belt form to be completed, signed by an approved AFBJJ/IBJJF registered minimum 2nd degree black belt. If the team (academy) head coach maintains a current IBJJF membership please advise that current membership number.
