IMPORTANT COMPETITION REMINDER
An important reminder to all competitors:
2016 has seen the official partnership between the AFBJJ and the IBJJF (International governing body for Jiu Jitsu) become a reality. The 2016 National Championship carries a 5 star National ranking and a 1 star International ranking. The 2016 National Championship in Melbourne on August 13-14 will be run on the AFBJJ system and registration is open now at https://bjjcomp.com/2016-National-Championship. The 2016 Pan Pacific Championship carries a 6 star National ranking and a 2 star International ranking. The 2016 Pan Pacific Championship in Melbourne on October 28-30 will be run on the IBJJF system and registration will open soon at http://ibjjf.org/upcoming-events/.
International ranking points are now required to qualify to compete at the World Championship. As the Australian National Championship and the Pan Pacific Championship grow into Major International competitions so will their International ranking.
For the 2016 National Championship all AFBJJ members can enter - however those Brown and Black Belt competitors who wish to collect International ranking points must also have an IBJJF membership prior to the event.
For the 2016 Pan Pacific Championship all Junior, Juvenile, Brown and Black Belts must register a membership to enter. Also all teams must be registered with the IBJJF.
To assist families who must register their children with an IBJJF membership the 2016 Pan Pacific Championship will allow one parent or guardian for each competing child to enter the venue as a spectator for free.
We strongly recommend that those competitors that require an IBJJF membership register themselves ASAP to avoid disappointment - for any questions email
Australia has now placed itself as a serious competing Nation on the International Jiu Jitsu landscape. The AFBJJ's goal is to make a pathway for our members to become World Champions. For any further details please contact
